I often get messages from curious members of the public or potential swim-guests into my inbox – be that on Facebook, email or another platform. As an individual, who adores being out in the water, at times it can take me a day or two to respond.
To try and help out with enquiries in the meantime, I have put together a handy FAQ page!
You can have a wee read through to see if your question is answered here, but if it’s not, don’t panic – I will aim to get back to you within 48 hours.

2021 EVENT CANCELLED - It is with a very heavy heart that I have to announce that unfortunately, the Scottish Winter Swimming Championships will not be taking place in March 2021 as we had originally hoped.
Seeing so many swimmers from all over the world take part in the 2020 event was a real highlight for SwimWild and the decision to cancel the event in 2021 has not been taken lightly.
When planning an event such as this, we have to consider not only the organisational aspects in terms of the uncertain times we find ourselves in, but most importantly we have to consider the participants and event volunteers health and safety.
As we all know too well, COVID-19 has thrown a spanner in the works this year and it is difficult to plan an event at the moment with guidance changing so often.
I understand many of you will be hugely disappointed but let’s look to the future and aim towards an incredible comeback event in 2022!
Please keep an eye on the SwimWild website and social media pages and subscribe to our email list for updates.
The next SwimWild Highland Gathering is scheduled for 28th - 31st May 2021.
Of course, at this stage, it is impossible to know what the virus situation will be like in late May 2021, but it has been important to get a date in the diary and hopefully we will have something to look forward to!
We hope to open ticket sales in mid-late February 2021 as by then we should have a better idea of whether or not the event can go ahead, and what form it will have to take.
As always, with limited accommodation available on-site, if you would like to reserve a room in the main house or one of the glamping options before the tickets go on sale, get in touch! Any deposits paid will be fully refunded if the event cannot go ahead or shifted to a new date if the event has to be postponed.
Please keep an eye out for updates closer to the time.
I'm glad you asked!

I can understand your hesitation on booking, it’s unprecedented times that we find ourselves in and with this said, it can be really difficult to plan ahead!
• If you would like to keep your booking I can move you onto the new dates or the same trip next year - your deposit will simply be transferred over to next years trip.
• If there is another SwimWild trip you like the look of, I can transfer your booking onto that trip instead.
• Deposits could also be used towards bespoke trips or private guiding in the Cairngorms.
If none of the options above suits you, you are welcome to a full refund of your deposit. Hopefully, this allows piece of mind when booking with SwimWild!
No problem - don’t be hesitant to contact me if you need any assistance, my email address is email@example.com
Please note, I may take 24-48 hours to respond as I spend a lot of time out on the water and away from my computer - thank you for your patience!
